Cavallini & Co. Siena Silver Leaf Frame 3"x 3"

In a very small Florentine workshop, the same techniques that defined 19th-century Italian gilding are still practiced by hand. Each Siena picture frame is crafted from wood, shaped into a wide ridged profile, and finished with genuine gold/silver leaf applied by artisans who have spent years learning how the material behaves — how it adheres, where it catches, how much variation to allow. No two frames are identical.

The mat and the full back of the frame are lined in Cavallini's signature Italian paper — a deep navy ground dense tan and cream dot-burst florals. Cavallini has been designing and printing paper like this since 1901, and it shows: the repeat is precise, the colors are saturated, and it gives even the reverse of the frame something worth seeing.

It holds a 3" x 3"  photo, and sits on a freestanding easel back — at home on a nightstand, a desk, or grouped on a shelf with others from the line.
